Lough Currane lies just east of Waterville, separated from Ballinskelligs Bay by the narrow strip of land the village stands on; the short Currane River joins the two. It is one of the best-known salmon and sea trout lakes in Ireland. There is parking and picnic tables on the shore, and early Christian church ruins on Church Island in the lake.
